There are over 500 positions across more than 80 boards and commissions appointed by Harris County Commissioners Court. These public boards provide a formal structure for the inclusion of community voice in our democratic decision-making process. Your service on a board – and the unique experience and expertise you possess – will help County leaders and policymakers better engage with our community so that governance is informed and responsive to the needs of our communities.

B&C Office | The Boards & Commissions (B&C) Office was established by the Commissioners Court in 2021 to manage the appointment process of resident volunteers to the various boards and commissions. The office also works closely with Commissioners Court and community stakeholders to help encourage participation and identify qualified candidates.

Harris County | Harris County covers over 1,700 square miles with an estimated 4.8 million residents. It is the most populous county in Texas and the third-most populous county in the United States. The County is a political subdivision of the State of Texas, and Commissioners Court is the governing body of the County.
