Daniel Santamaria was selected as the second Director of the Harris County Boards & Commissions Office in June 2023. He joined Harris County with nearly 17 years of local government experience, including his last nine years during which he served as chief of staff to a Houston City Council Member.

As head of the Office of Boards & Commissions, Daniel believes in cultivating boards and commissions that are engaged, inclusive, and reflective of Harris County. He understands the critical role public boards and commissions play in supporting effective governance and values the stewardship undertaken by the residents appointed to serve.

Daniel grew up in the Spring Branch community in west Houston where he, his wife, and their son live today. In his time off, Daniel and his family enjoy supporting local charitable organizations and exploring everything Harris County has to offer - from local food spots and restaurants to festivals and sporting events. Daniel also enjoys cycling and has completed the Texas MS 150 bike ride on three occasions.
