Harris County Announces Closure Of Public-Facing Services for Monday, January 26, 2026

Download the press release(Harris County – January 25, 2026) - Due to anticipated impacts from severe winter weather, Harris County will close all public-facing County services on Monday, January 26, 2026, to protect the safety of residents and employees.

While County facilities will remain operational for internal functions, County buildings will not be open to the public, and in-person services will be unavailable for the day.

County leadership continues to monitor weather conditions closely in coordination with the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and follow local advisories.

HARRIS COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES
All Harris County Public Library locations will be closed to the public on Monday, January 26, 2026.

COURT CLOSURES AND JURY DUTY
The closure of County offices also affects court operations. As a result, Harris County Jury Service is canceled on Monday, January 26, 2026. This includes courthouse facilities and the Harris County Jury Assembly at 1201 Congress Street.

JURY DUTY
If you were summoned for jury duty, you do not need to appear on Monday, January 26, 2026.If you are an empaneled juror for a specific court, please contact the court directly for any questions or concerns.

The Harris County Courts, including the Harris County Juvenile Probation Departments (HCJPD), and the Juvenile Justice Center, will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.
